Calculation

Heated public places for winter from OpenStreetMap, with editorial enrichment. The editorial team researched 677 candidates and rated 230 as suitable. After removing 3 duplicates, the layer shows 227 places. Winter opening, staying without purchase and admission come from operator sources, each with a source and check date. The "open now" status uses the research hours, and OSM hours for places without research hours. If the research names no fixed schedule, the layer shows no status.

Coverage gaps

  • Winter opening is verified for 212 of 227 places, staying without purchase for 97. The rest show “not checked”. Opening hours can go stale, the check date shows the research status. Single closing days are sometimes missing from the status.

What we don't show

  • No emergency shelters or warming rooms, not a replacement for public authorities, no legal entitlement to stay. Operators exercise their right to refuse entry (Hausrecht).

Frequently asked questions

Night-time noise disturbs the sleep phases in which the cardiovascular system and nerves recover. The World Health Organization recommends a guideline value of 40 dB for night-time noise (LNIGHT). The Berlin noise mapping therefore reports LDEN and LNIGHT separately.
